I've had this really cool somewhat big yellow sortalookslikealabhusky mix dog since 98.Anyways, hes been hobling around with sore hips for a while now and I finally took him to the vet to get checked out [img]frown.gif[/img] Poor guys got Arthritist in both hips.and hes only four!The nice vet dude said there wasnt anything I could have done about it or can do about it other then some joint lube he prescribed.

For $50 I got 40 days worth of Glycomax.Twice a day I grind up a tablet of this stuff and mix it in some can dog food.The dogs much happier now that hes getting some treatment for his bad joints.So now for the rest of his life he gets some form of joint lube for his hips.I remember back when I was a kid,the only attention a farm dog got was some wrestling in the front yard and some leftover steak bones.We never spent money on pets.Now Ive got over $300 into pulling out porcupine quills,$whatever to fix and shot him,$230 to x ray his hips and now Ill probably be spending $50 plus a month to feed and grease his joints. trampis... how sad. i'm sorry your doggie is
experiencing such problems... but at the same
rate, i'm sure he's glad to have an owner like
you to sacrifice for his needs like one of the
family.... even if he's 4.

arthritis is so very painful... and it would
only get worse.

that is really sad.. my german shepard developed arthritis in her 14th year.. bonespurs within months of that.. spikes on her hips afterwards and eventually her hips caved in completely... broke my heart to watch her suffer..

you did a noble thing.. not many i know would shell out that money just for a dog... but living on pills and medication is no life.. for anyone, animal or not... *p..that's sad...

no.2... Trampis.... my dog, who is a black lab/mixed with other dog breeds/... has the same problem... and he's only 3!!!! but his hips have arthritis real bad as well... we too must give him medication..
When he goes out trompin through the forest with us on long walks..*like when we're huntin morels* if he goes with.... he likes to run around, but that night... his hips get so bad, he can't even get up from laying down. *sigh* that poor doggy.

We have 2 dogs... I like big dogs like labs though, our other dog, is a small little Shiba Inu... little bitch of a dog.
You don't have to STFU.... but it's just interesting, how EVERY thread always seems to focus on WTFever shatzy say's, and not on the actual thread itself.. i can understand threads getting off topic,, but naturally, and after more than a few replies...i just get tired of "shatzy this" or "shatzy that".... so annoying.
I wanted to hear more about trampis' doggie..
My lab mix has a spotted blue tongue.. and extra dew claws...*which are common on certain breeds*
speeking of arthritis...
I think I'm already doomed, because I have horrible knees.... a bad back.. and achey shoulders..

its just that shatzy leaves herself open for these comments (sorry her again)

anyway i have had numerous dogs (dont at the moment im a yougn student flatting for the first time cant afford it and not many landlords allow dogs etc etc)

But anyway my first ever dog was a white lab (we lived on a farm till i was 14) it died when i was 11 on the exact day that i went to boarding school for the first time.

Since then its been mostly family dogs till i left home my lab was called WAG (i know gay as but iw as five nad the made me i wanted to call it something out of the pound puppys cartoon), anyway then its been a boxer (called shorts... mum thinks shes funny with that name)
and a few bad excuses for dogs, a corgie, god knows how many poodles (mum has an obsesson for these... cats?)
and weve had a few other real dogs too but always when we were on the farm
